Section reference

Hero sections

Choose and configure SAISON hero sections by page goal, media strength, mobile crop, overlay contrast, and call-to-action priority.

First-screen sectionsHomepage, campaign, collection, editorialSet mobile behavior early

Hero sections create the first impression, but the common setup issues usually come from the same settings: media crop, text contrast, section height, mobile stacking, and button priority. Start with your page goal before changing visual controls.

Key Settings To Decide First

Theme editor setting

desktop media / mobile media

What this controls

The image or video customers see in the hero on desktop and phone screens.

When to change it

The desktop crop loses the subject on phones.

Watch out

Trying to solve every crop problem with position settings after using the wrong image.

Theme editor setting

height_mode / section height

What this controls

The vertical space the hero takes before the next section appears.

When to change it

The hero feels too shallow or traps too much first-screen space.

Watch out

Using a full-screen hero on contact, FAQ, or policy pages where customers need answers quickly.

Theme editor setting

content position

What this controls

Where the heading, copy, and buttons sit on top of or beside the hero media.

When to change it

Text covers a face, product, logo, or important detail.

Watch out

Centering text by default over busy photography.

Theme editor setting

overlay color / overlay opacity

What this controls

A tinted layer placed over media to make text and buttons readable.

When to change it

Heading or buttons are hard to read over media.

Watch out

Increasing heading size instead of fixing contrast.

Theme editor setting

primary and secondary buttons

What this controls

The main and optional supporting actions shown inside the hero.

When to change it

The hero has more than one possible action.

Watch out

Using equal button styles for actions that are not equally important.

Theme editor setting

mobile layout / mobile stacking

What this controls

How hero media, copy, panels, and buttons reorder on small screens.

When to change it

Split or multi-card heroes become crowded on phones.

Watch out

Assuming desktop split composition will translate to mobile.

Theme editor setting

motion / reveal timing

What this controls

The speed and trigger for hero animations, reveals, or scroll effects.

When to change it

The hero uses sequential, shrink, or visual effects.

Watch out

Making customers wait for the CTA to become clear.

Common mistakes

  • Using desktop-only images and then fighting mobile crops with settings.
  • Putting light text over bright media without an overlay.
  • Adding two or three equal CTAs when one action should be primary.
  • Using motion-heavy heroes on pages where customers need fast shopping or support.
  • Letting a full-height hero hide products, contact information, or campaign actions below the fold.
